Welcome to Lublin.
Lublin is the biggest city in the estern part of Poland. For many years has been a place where all kinds of different cultures and nationalities have met and intermingled. Through the centuries the inhabitants of the City of Lublin always tolerant and good willing, have witnessed people of different nationalities, background and religion settling down and developing our city. Today the situation is similar- we welcome all newcomers with the smile and friendly attitude. In Lublin there are many possibilities of getting to know interesting people, visit exquisite places of symbolic meaning. As the biggest Polish city at the east of the Vistula river Lublin provides variety of students’ facilities – cultural centers, theatres, cinemas. It offers wide range of annual festivals, music concerts and artistic exhibitions. Lublin is a great place to live and study.

Medical University of Lublin started educating young people over 50 years ago. The university’s didactic and scientific structure is composed of four faculties: Medical Faculty I with Division of Dentistry, Medical Faculty II With English Division, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Nursing and Health Science. Three university hospitals – PPSK-1, PPSK-4 and DDSK are affiliated with Medical University of Lublin, offering excellent training programs and facilities for students in almost every are medicine.

UM is educating over 5500 students in fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, obstetrics, ER, public health and rehabilitation. Within the period of its educational work the UM is proud to have educated 14 thousand physicians, 2,5 thousand dentists, 6,5 thousand pharmacist and 5 thousand nurses. The above number includes over 500 students studying medicine and dentistry in English language. Our University has students from different parts of the world – various countries of European Union and Africa, North America, India, Taiwan etc. There are over 130 graduates of English Language Division who are successful in many medical fields.

Accommodation.
Students of our programs can chose different options of accommodation. University provides dorms in the campus area, next to University facilities. Prices depends on the number of beds and on option in standard. If somebody wants more privacy, our recruter’s representatives will help to chose the best option.

Academic life.
Professors work with groups of 10 students in lab to ensure the understanding of curriculum for each student. With a dean and program director who will personally sit down with student, there is a continuous support given for those who ask.

A big attraction for students are lectures given by visiting professors from USA. During those meetings students discuss the most interesting medical cases. This is to adjust as much as possible the methods of teaching in UM to American requirements. What is more University provides Polish language course. It may help students in the future to communicate with patients, especially in areas like New Your or Chicago.

All students who can prove themselves with excellent results from tests, exams and class participation are more than welcome to join many research projects groups available on UM and conducted by our professors and assistant professors.

Students from UM can join many scientific and non-scientific international, European and local associations like for example: Students Government, Student Scientific Society, International Federation of Medical Student’s Association, Society of Students of Stomatology, European Medical Student Association, Lublin Society of Students of Pharmacy, Singing and Dance Team, Academic Priesthood “Lucas”, University Sports Association, American Medical Student’s Association.

The Grade Scale and Exams.
The grade scale is based on the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) standard. Grades awarded for examination, tests or other formsnof evaluation are either Passes/Failed or a scale with five levels from 5 to 2. The poorest pass grade for an examination is grade 3. Evaluations/ Exams practices at UM consist of: written exams, oral exams, MCQ, class participation, and group or individual presentations. Since the beginning of Academic Year 2009/10 it is obligatory for all students participating American program of the Medical Faculty to take and pass NBME Comprehensive Exam to be able to take USMLE exam.
