Warsaw University of Technology

Warsaw University of Technology (WUT),
founded in 1826, is a renowned academic institution which focuses on undergraduate and graduate programmes in engineering and applied sciences. WUT is the highest ranked engineering university in Poland. Students can choose from a wide variety of degree courses: from architecture to business and management, from mathematics and computer science to biotechnology, robotics, mechanics and environmental engineering, from applied chemistry to geodesy, transport and aeronautics.

Programmes. Undergraduate and graduate programmes taught in English are offered by the following Faculties: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Information Technology, Environmental Engineering, Mathematics and Information Science, Mechatronics, Power and Aeronautical Engineering, Production Engineering. WUT Business School offers postgraduate MBA programmes. The majority of faculties and research centres accept foreign students for doctoral studies.

Students live in single, double or triple rooms or in self-contained flats consisting of two or three rooms. They can use the gym, swimming pool, library, TV room, ballroom, laundry and kitchen. The International Students Office assists in the application procedures. The sooner the application is received, the better the chances are for receiving a room in a student dormitory.

International MBA course costs 8900 Euro (two semesters) and Executive MBA course costs 13 900 Euro (four semesters). Successful applicants can apply for tuition fee waiver. All Faculties offer PhD programmes – the fee ranges from 1500 to 3000 Euro.

Since 2008, the project “Development Programme of Warsaw University of Technology” (Operational Programme Human Resources Development 4.1.1), co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the European Social Fund has been carried out, thanks to which, some Faculties were able to offer tuition-free courses.

Application booklet. The application form, together with copies of the required documents, can be sent by post, fax or e-mail. Only applications received before 1st August will be considered as valid for the academic year beginning in October. Additional information about programmes, application procedures and other related issues can be obtained at the Centre for International Cooperation.

Note: Only the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology enrols first-semester students twice a year: in October (as usual) and February. The application deadline in the February registration period is 5th January.

The International Students Office (ISO)
is dedicated to help the international students succeed while enrolled at Warsaw University of Technology. Every effort is made to ensure the students return home with memories of a pleasant experience. The ISO is part of the University’s Central Administration – the Centre for International Cooperation and offers services to international students, to minimize the difficulties they may experience both upon arrival and later during their stay in Warsaw. It provides information on a wide range of topics, including immigration issues, social and cultural differences and assisting students needing to extend their visas. The ISO coordinates a meet and greet service at Okęcie Airport for students arriving at the start of the academic year, runs an annual Orientation Programme for new students, workshops and presentations during term time.

Why Poland?

Why Poland? This question had bombarded me prior to and after my arrival in Poland. It is those nice people whom I met as well as both the way of studying and living here in Poland that made this study exchange an excellent one. Polish students may seem to be shy at the first place; however, you will find them very approachable and helpful once you take a step forward to know them.
