Kazimierz Wielki University

Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz is a dynamically developing school of higher education, today the largest in the city and the second largest in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, both as for number of professors, number of majors, educational forms offered and the number of students and graduates. Kazimierz Wielki University is the youngest, wide-profile university in our country. It was created on 1 September 2005 but it follows 40 years of tradition of university education in Bydgoszcz.

Today a rich educational range of studies covers 29 specialisations at three levels: bachelor and bachelor in engineering, master and doctoral studies. The university also provides almost 40 postgraduate courses, developing qualifications and conferring new qualifications as well as entitlements. Responding to the expectations of young people and to the needs of labour market we offer new and attractive specialisations. Recently these were: biotechnology, tourism and recreation, sociology, cultural studies, cultural heritage protection, mechatronics and specialties, in applied linguistics: English with Arabic and in pedagogy: social and cultural animation. In 2010/2011 the following new majors will be offered: security engineering and material engineering. At present we have 14 thousand students. Over 700 academic staff members share their knowledge, including about 150 professors, with over 60 professors titular. Great importance is attached to the development of the staff potential. Thus the staff participate in training schemes, projects, research programmes and cooperate with Polish and foreign educational centres.

Our university participates in EU programmes, among others: Lifelong Learning Programme (Comenius, Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Grundtvig). KWU cooperates with 41 foreign universities from 18 countries: Finland, Germany, Spain, Norway, Portugal, Italy, Slovakia, Lithuania, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Great Britain and Turkey. You can also receive professional training with the European Leonardo da Vinci programme. The University simultaneously runs the Careers Centre which helps students and graduates to find satisfying employment. The Centre acts as an intermediary in finding professional training in the workplace of your choice. The job consultancy instructors will instruct you how to start your own business and make it function effectively in the labour market.

Very inspiring studies

I am very glad that I chose Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz to study as a Erasmus student. Teachers here are very kind, friendly and helpful what makes studying here very inspiring. KWU and Polish people will be very important part of my life, I will come here again as a colleague or visitor. I will be very happy if my home university in Bratislava could establish closer links with the community of Kazimierz Wielki University.
